Well Person Screening
Some healthy people under the age of 65 may be at increased risk of coronary artery disease (heart attacks) and strokes later in life. We invite patients to have a screening assessment with our practice nurse every three years on an appointment basis. We strongly urge this for patients who have a relative who was affected by this sort of problem under the age of 60.

The screening will consist of blood pressure, weight and urine measurements, blood tests, if appropriate, a lifestyle questionnaire and advice if necessary.

Diabetes
The practice runs regular nurse led clinics to monitor patients with diabetes. Help & advice can then be offered if any problems are identified.

Asthma
The practice runs regular nurse led clinics to monitor patients with asthma. Help & advice can then be offered if any problems are identified.

Chronic Heart Disease

The practice runs regular nurse led clinics to monitor patients with chronic heart disease. Help & advice can then be offered if any problems are identified.

Chronic Kidney Disease

The practice runs regular nurse led clinics to monitor patients with chronic heart disease. Help & advice can then be offered if any problems are identified.

Cardio Vascular Disease

The practice runs regular nurse led clinics to monitor patients with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Help & advice can then be offered if any problems are identified.

Minor Operations
We are able to provide a comprehensive range of minor surgery in the practice that saves a long wait for the same procedure performed at the hospital.

Maternity Services
All the doctors are keenly involved in maternity services and each run an antenatal clinic. Most births are at Arrowe Park Hospital.

Family Planning
A full range of contraceptive services is provided and can be obtained by making an appointment with a GP or Practice Nurse during normal surgery hours. We recommend regular cervical smears that can be arranged by appointment with a nurse. Alternatively, there are a number of Family Clinics in the area providing a range of days and times. For more information contact our reception.

Pre Conception Advice
If you are planning a pregnancy we would suggest that you see your doctor for health advice at least three months before.

Holiday Vaccinations

For advice on foreign travel please ring the information line at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine on 0891 172111, whenever possible eight weeks before leaving. The practice nurse will arrange necessary immunisations.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS. Our staff will be able to calculate the cost once the travel vaccination form has been completed and seen by a nurse.

Travel Health Questionnaire

To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the travel health questionnaire form available from the surgery before coming to see the nurse.

Passports

Our Doctors are unable to countersign patient passport applications and photos due to changes in legislation.
